Tweek City Update: October 31, 2006

DVD RELEASE AND MIDNIGHT SHOWS COMING SOON!

Maverick Entertainment Group will be releasing Tweek City on DVD throughout the United States on January 2, 2007.

That's right – in two short months you can buy or rent Tweek City complete with the Director's Commentary and 5.1 mix! I don't have all the details yet but it will be available just about everywhere you normally go to purchase or rent DVDs, including Blockbuster, Netflix, Amazon and of course right here at www.tweekcity.com.

Tweek City will also be playing on the big screen for one weekend here in Los Angeles before the DVD release -- at the Laemmle Sunset 5 in West Hollywood! This very limited engagement will consist of TWO MIDNIGHT SHOWS -- on Friday, December 8 and Saturday, December 9 -- so make sure you SET THE DATES ASIDE -- nothing beats an old fashioned big screen with a room full of like-minded people!

As I find out more about where and when you can buy tickets and DVDs I'll post it here at TweekCity.com. Sign up for the email list if you want to stay in the loop.

The long talked about website renovation is also on its way, so come back often to see more updates, new merchandise, forums, movie clips, stills, blogs and neat flash stuff that looks all artsy.

The first upgrade is already here -- check out the Tweek City trailer with its NEW ORIGINAL SCORE courtesy of Joel Catalan!

'til next time, spread the word and tweek out!

Tweek City Update: April 15, 2006

I know, I know, I promised a DVD release this month.

Although, the DVD is authored and ready to go, I have landed the opportunity to let producer’s reps Straw Weisman and Timothy Swain of Marquee Productions explore a larger distribution deal. So, while I’d love to get the DVD in your hands, I can’t self-distribute the title until this round has played itself out.

That’s good news by the way…

If Tweek City does get picked up by a larger distributor, it will most likely come out toward the end of the year, wherever ephedra-based products are sold, if not, I’ll go back to peddling it myself…stay tuned.

In the meantime, I will try harder to get some Tweek City screenings lined up. Sign up for the email list to stay posted!

I’ve also been hard at work building out a Tweek City MySpace community. The MySpace profile finally provides many of the features that I will eventually incorporate into this site.

So check out www.myspace.com/tweekcity and...

  • Subscribe to the blog which includes entries from the Tweek City press kit, unavailable until now, as well as interviews and regular updates.
  • Explore website links to all the bands that are featured on the TC soundtrack.
  • Connect with hundreds of people, bands and films that share something in common with Tweek City.
  • Check out the trailer, stills and an ever-expanding list of films that I find inspiring.

ADD YOURSELF AS A FRIEND and, among other things, you can post comments, get bulletins and know when I've posted a new blog.

Additionally, I have another blog that currently focuses on Tweek City but will feature a broader range of topics at tweekcity.blogspot.com.

Tweek train’s a comin’!

Tweek City Update: January 28, 2006

Welcome to TweekCity.com – 2006 promises to be another great year!

A few highlights:

1) The DVD release should occur, exclusively through this website, by April 1st. Sign up for the email list to make sure you stay in the loop!

The Tweek City DVD will include:

  • 16x9 Presentation
  • Stereo & 5.1 Mix
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • Audio Commentary with Writer/Director/Producer, Eric Johnson
  • Scene Selection

2) There will be a DVD Release Party & Screening, perhaps in both SF & LA. More details on this event as the date draws closer.

3) Due to demand, we have just placed a new order for Tweek City Messenger Bags – get one while supplies last. We’ll also have a new black t-shirt style shortly.

4) The Tweek City trailer is currently posted on ifilm. Check it out!

5) We’re continuing to play festivals and, hopefully, independent theaters throughout the U.S. and, eventually, Europe. There will definitely be a San Francisco premiere in the next couple months. If you know a cool theater or space in your area, contact Eric Johnson at info@tweekcity.com and I’ll try to book a screening. Join the email list for info on upcoming screenings as they are announced.

6) If you’re excited about this film, please help spread the word! If you have a site, I’ll gladly exchange links and/or provide you with content. As a matter of fact, I’ll be posting a special “links” section on the site extremely soon which, among other things, will take you to the homepage of each band featured in Tweek City.

7) This website will soon undergo a total overhaul. The new site will allow me to make updates much more often and will be much more interactive in general.

Features you can expect to see in the coming months:

  • The Tweek City Store will expand to include merchandise of all kinds. Of course the Tweek City DVD and, hopefully, a soundtrack will be made available, but also movies, music and merch from other like-minded artists, including, but not limited to, those involved with Tweek City.

  • Message boards, blogs, links and comment fields: I would like to see TweekCity.com grow to become a marketplace and blogosphere for outsider artists and enthusiasts who simply want to share their passion for what they love.

  • Deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage, interviews and Tweek City music, including a song by Giuseppe, inspired by the script, that he performed on set.

Tweek Out,

Eric

Tweek City Update: November 30, 2005

I’d like to thank everyone who made it out to the Queens International Film Festival to see the NY premiere of Tweek City. For the second time in two opportunities, Tweek City left a huge impression at a film festival and it couldn’t have happened without you.

Not only was Tweek City one of the few sell outs, but once again, the audience rolled right along with the film – laughing, squirming and crying (well I heard someone sniffle) at all the right times. By closing night, Tweek City had established itself as one of the most talked about films of the festival. Just a great success all around.

Beyond the festival itself, Tweek City also received a small dollop of coverage in the local press. No reviews, but the Village Voice’s gossip columnist Michael Musto included a few words about Tweek City -- Ginger Coyote and one other “member” of the cast in particular. Hey, it’s something!

And please sign up for the email list if you want to stay apprised of future screenings and DVD release dates (hopefully by the end of December). Finally, get a 10-dollar (only 10 dollars???) limited-run t-shirt before supplies run out!

Happy Holidays!

Eric

Tweek City Update: November 4, 2005
The 2005 Queens International Film Festival has selected Tweek City as one of 12 feature films it will feature in competition this year!

That’s right, Tweek City is making its NYC premiere on Friday, November 18, at 6:30pm. The screening will be in the Mario Gallery at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria (really close to Manhattan).

MOMI has “the nation's largest permanent collection of moving image artifacts”, so come early, enjoy the collection and then mosey on over to the Mario Gallery at 6:30pm for the Tweek City screening.

I would encourage anyone who comes to set aside their entire evening as there will definitely be a post-screening party. If the LA premiere party could jump ‘till dawn, just imagine what we can do in the city that never sleeps!

If you live in New York or anywhere within traveling distance PLEASE COME AND SEND THE WORD OUT to everyone you know who might enjoy Tweek City. If you live in NYC and would like some postcards, drop me an email and I’ll send you a few to pass out to your friends.

Seating is limited and the LA premiere sold out quickly so order your seats ASAP by calling 718.459.5496. If you also send me an email, I’ll make sure everything goes smoothly.

Finally, if you’d like to read more on the festival you can visit their site at www.queensfilmfestival.com. You can also read more about the Museum of the Moving Image or just GET DIRECTIONS at www.ammi.org.

I will send more updates as information becomes available.

See you in New York!

Eric

P.S. We are busily putting together a TWEEK CITY DVD which will include a director’s commentary from yours truly, a trailer and for those of you with the fully stocked home theaters – a 5.1 MIX. DVDs will be available by EARLY DECEMBER making Tweek City the perfect stocking stuffer! You can even buy one for Grandma, provided you only play her the trailer…

Tweek City Update: May 15, 2005

Tweek City premiered on May 8th, 2005, in Santa Monica, California to an enthusiastic, sold out audience! We also got a great review in the L.A. Times.

We're currently applying to select festivals and talking to distribution companies. If you'd like to know when and where you can see Tweek City, sign up for the email list or return here for regular updates.

Check out the gallery for our recently added production stills and screen captures. We are also continuing to add new features to the website over the coming months including Tweek City fan forums, behind-the-scenes interviews and, if demand calls for it -- more merchandise. Speaking of which, Tweek City T-Shirts are still available in the online store!

If we don't have a t-shirt in your size or if there's a product you'd like to see, email us at info@tweekcity.com. If we get enough requests we'll put together an order.

Thanks for all your support!

Eric
